Absolute Premier High-K Paddock Fertiliser 3-3-12 is a professional granular fertiliser for established horse paddocks, grazing fields and pasture designed for use during autumn and suitable mild winter conditions. Due to the high proportion of potassium in the formulation, it is also an excellent option when a soil analysis reveals a soil potassium deficiency.

Its low-nitrogen, high-potassium formulation supports grass strength and resilience without encouraging excessive soft leaf growth. The 12% potassium content helps the grass regulate water and withstand seasonal stress, while modest levels of nitrogen and phosphate support steady growth, colour and root health.

Each homogeneous granule contains the same balance of nutrients, helping provide more consistent distribution across the paddock than conventional blended fertilisers.

Why use a high-potassium paddock fertiliser?

During autumn, paddock grass requires a different nutrient balance from the high-nitrogen feeds commonly used during spring and summer.

Too much nitrogen late in the growing season can encourage soft, leafy growth that is less suited to colder and wetter conditions. Absolute Premier High-K Paddock Fertiliser contains only 3% nitrogen alongside 12% potassium, providing a more appropriate seasonal feed for established grass.

Actual longevity will vary according to the application rate, soil temperature, moisture levels and rate of grass growth. A soil test will help to determine the required application rate when potassium deficiency is suspected.

Where to use

Suitable for established:

This fertiliser feeds existing grass. It will not replace grass that has been lost from bare, heavily poached or damaged areas. These areas may also require resting, aeration, levelling and overseeding.

When to use

Ideally apply from late summer into autumn while the grass is still actively growing and the soil contains adequate moisture.

It may also be used during suitable mild winter conditions, provided the soil is not frozen, waterlogged, flooded or covered by snow.

For best results, apply when:

• the soil is moist but not saturated
• the grass is showing some active growth
• the ground is firm enough to travel over without causing further poaching
• light or moderate rainfall is expected after application

Do not apply during drought, severe frost or immediately before heavy rainfall that could cause runoff.

How to use

Apply evenly using a suitably calibrated fertiliser spreader.

• Measure the paddock and calculate the quantity required.
• Remove horses and other grazing animals before application.
• Calibrate the spreader for the selected rate.
• Avoid overlapping passes or leaving missed strips.
• Where practical, apply half the fertiliser in one direction and the remaining half at right angles.
• Sweep granules from gateways, paths, trough surrounds and other hard surfaces.
• Allow rainfall to water the fertiliser into the soil.

If suitable rainfall does not occur within 24 hours, irrigate thoroughly where practical.

Avoid stopping or turning the spreader while it is dispensing, as concentrated deposits can cause uneven growth or damage the grass.

Use the lower rate for routine seasonal feeding of established paddocks. The higher rate may be suitable where a stronger nutritional response is required, and soil conditions are appropriate.

• 10-40 g/m² (40-160kg/acre) for grazed grass
• 20-80 g/m² (80-320kg/acre) for hay production

A soil analysis is recommended before applying high-potassium fertiliser, particularly where fertiliser has been used regularly.

Consider a soil analysis

A paddock soil test can identify pH and existing phosphate, potassium and magnesium levels. This helps confirm whether additional potassium is required and reduces the risk of applying nutrients unnecessarily.

Address poaching separately

Fertiliser supports existing grass but cannot correct compacted soil or restore completely bare ground. Heavily poached gateways and trough areas may also require resting, aeration, overseeding or ground reinforcement.

Manage weeds separately

This product does not contain a weed killer. Existing docks, thistles, nettles, buttercups and ragwort should be managed separately using an appropriate selective paddock weed-control method.
