Platipus Anchors underground guying systems have been designed to secure rootballed trees. The system is installed at the time of planting, using three anchors that are driven deep into the ground around the tree rootball. The anchors used have a ratchet system which get strapped over the rootball of the tree, specially designed Plati-Mats™ are then positioned in a triangular shape across the top of the rootball, this helps prevent the securing system cables cutting into the rootball, once secured the system allows the trees roots to spread and develop.
Platipus Anchors tend to be used on larger trees where over ground support systems are not suitable or are vulnerable to vandalism, this tends to be in hard landscaped/urban environments. Platipus Anchors can be more difficult to install, requiring the correct tools, skills and knowledge, however the system should be seen more as an investment, once the system is installed, it doesn't need to be removed. One of the main benefits of the Platipus Anchors system, is that there are no unsightly support systems above ground, once installed the system is invisible and you are left with secure, strong, straight trees.
