Black Onyx Aquatic Weed Control (Water Soluble Packets)

Black Onyx is a proprietary blend of non-toxic pigments and dispersing agents. When mixed into a pond or lake, Black Onyx creates an environment which is detrimental to algae formation by reflecting ultraviolet light and at the same time letting visible light in, allowing for a natural looking pond or lake.

Application Information:

• Black Onyx water-soluble packets (WSP) should be distributed uniformly across the surface of the water body.
  
• The amount of colorant may be varied to achieve the desired colour of the water.
  
• Reapplication of Black Onyx will help maintain the desired colour throughout the season.
  
• This product should not be applied to streams, rivers, outflows or water not completely controlled by the user.

More Information:

Algae require nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus as well as light to grow and develop. Ponds and lakes that are close to intensively managed turf with regular fertiliser applications are prone to having high algae levels as applied nutrients often find their way into the water courses by means of irrigation, runoff or natural rainfall. However, it is the invisible ultraviolet light that provides algae with its primary energy source. Black Onyx limits UV light that is essential to algae growth whilst aesthetically enhancing the appearance of the water.

Black Onyx can be used in a programmed with ProCrystal for an environmentally efficiently and sustainable algae treatment in static and slow moving water bodies. The advantages of using Black Onyx and ProCrystal as part of a programme is that you will be creating a natural enviroment that is unfavourable to algae development. This programme will work by limiting availability of nutrients and ultraviolet to algae. This will allow for a clear natural looking water feature throughout the season.

Water treated with Black Onyx may be used for irrigation to turf areas and will not harm or stain turf. There are no restrictions on fishing, swimming or recreational water use during and following the application of this product.
